The Jennifer and Gregory Louie Foundation for Cerebral Palsy
The Jennifer and Gregory Louie Foundation for Cerebral Palsy is a private foundation that was established to help both children and adults with Cerebral Palsy enhance their mobility, quality of life, and independence within their communities.
Both Jennifer and Gregory Louie have experience in the medical field, Gregory as a radiologist and Jennifer as a physiotherapist. Jennifer worked as a pediatric physiotherapist and the majority of the children she treated had a diagnosis of cerebral palsy. She observed on a daily basis how challenging it was for the children to reach their goals regarding mobility without proper therapy and/or therapeutic equipment. The cost of such necessary services, therapies, and equipment was more than most families could ever afford. Both Jennifer and Gregory agreed that when the opportunity arouse that they would start a foundation to help both children and adults with Cerebral Palsy. The JGL Foundation for Cerebral Palsy was established in November of 2014.
The JGL Foundation for Cerebral Palsy started accepting applications in January 2014. During the first year as a non-profit, we were able to help 15 individuals and distribute $17,182 in grants. These 2014 grants assisted with purchasing: traditional physical therapy, aquatic therapy, AFOs (leg-foot braces), power wheelchairs, gait trainer (walker), custom rain poncho for wheelchair, a porch lift for a home, adaptive highchair, mounting system for communication devices.
